GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

You are most welcome for the suggestion.

I would caution the spears though. The posing of the legs is more in keeping with wielding an axe or greatsword

Well the High Elf Spearmen kit does come with some double-handed spears being thrust forward, so they might be the best choices for some of those leg poses. Any ideas on where I could find some circular shields to keep with the Hoplite effect?

Only stotmcast shields.

What is wrong with going outside gw?

Well, GW is most accessible to me, even though I do like the look of Warlord Games stuff. The only shop that I know that sells Warlord only sells rubbishy Bolt Action stuff and no Hail Caesar.

Order it online?

Or ask them to special order it?

Maybe. But then what would be the point of making my own Elven hoplites when I could just buy some Warlord ones and put them on GW bases and say "Here are my Freeguild Spearmen"?

Also I've had a look at the sprues and there are no separate shield sprues available - if they had any of those available that would be great.

Check victrix hoplites then. Might have separate shields

Dont the fire dwarfs have round shieds?

@Bracnos is right, the Fyreslayers do have circular shields (bladed slingshields), as you can see below:

But they do look a bit too Viking-y for Greco-Atlantean Elves. I do have some of these as I've made a set of Vulkites into Slayers for Fantasy (see my painting blog), so if I could do something with them they might be good as stylised Hoplite shields. Perhaps if I was able to file the runes off somehow - that would take the shields one step closer to looking Elven, especially as they are asymmetrical. Quite a lot of Elf shields are asymmetrical as nature is asymmetrical, whereas the regular Dwarfs/Dispossessed, for example, have symmetrical Viking designs on their shields, and as I have 10 of these they would cater for one box of those new sea elves.

Don't file them off. Shave them off with a hobby knife.
