Ok I thought I was facing Stormcast but he turned up with Death Rattle!
Seraphon
Eternity Warden, General, Legendary fighter with Relic blade
Skink Starpriest
10 Guards
10 Skinks, boltspitter and shield
10 Skinks, boltspitter and shield
3 Rippers
1 Stegadon with bow
Death Rattle
Wight king with standard, General, Ruler of the night with Black amulet
Wight king with Black axe
Wight king with Black axe
20 Skeleton warriors with spears
20 Skeleton warriors with spears
5 Grave guard with shields
5 Black knights
5 Black knights
I won the roll for deployment so from left to right I went,
10 Skinks, Stegadon, starpriest behind Stegadon, 10 Guard, Eternity behind Guard, 3 Rippers, 10 Skinks.
He went from left to right,
5 Black knights, 20 Skeletons, 5 Grave guard, 20 Skeletons, 5 Black knights, Wight king with standard set middle and back, Wight kings with black axe set behind Skeletons.
Turn 1
I made him go first, he gives Lord of bones to the left warriors, he runs with everything apart from the King with standard which he plants.
I put the bloat toad in range of his wight king, I move both skinks up into shooting range, I move Steggy into range on the left Black knights, I march 10 with my guards into cover and run the eternity warden 7, Priest moves up 5, rippers move behind cover.
I shoot with my skinks killing 2 warriors to the left unit, Steggys bow kills a Black knight, he has a 6 death save and a 5 death save but fails both (not for long)
Turn 2
He puts Lord of bones on the same unit, he rolls a D3 and returns the Black Knight, he rolls a D6 and returns both warriors!
He moves up everything apart from the king with standard, still nothing in charging distance for him.
I cast shield on my Guard and fail! I move my Steggy and Guards into charge distance and move up my Eternity warden, I shoot with my skinks killing 1 warrior, i shoot with the steggy killing 1 warrior.
I charge the steggy hopefully at the black knights, 11needed and get 7 so I charge the warriors (mistake) I score 16 hits and 15 wounds! he rolls his death saves and saves 14! the guard have charged the same unit, warden and rippers the other warrior unit.
Guards are doing 3 attacks each so 24 attacks all hit and 20 wound, come on, he save 18! wtf
Eternity warden is on 4 attacks (Legendary fighter) and 3 damage (Relic blade) I hit with all 4 and wound with 4, 12 wounds he saves 10 wtf! Rippers do 8 wounds he saves 6 wtf! he fights back taking 2 wounds of the steggy and killing 2 guard and does nothing to the warden but takes 2 wounds off a ripper.
Turn 3
I win, I shoot with the skinks and nothing hits, I shoot with the steggy killing 2 warriors, I continue with hits and wounds and he saves nearly everyone, this is unbelievable!.
He rolls for bringing back his dead and is almost at full strength again he puts Lord of bones on the black knights, wtf is going on! he moves up his black knights on the left and charges the steggy, skeleton warriors attack the guards and do nothing, one ripper dies and wounds another, warden is safe, Black knights hit and wound the steggy 11 wounds caused he has 8 wounds left and guess what yep I fail 10 of the saves, Steggy wiped out!
Turn 4
He wins, he just continues his grind, he wipes out a unit of skinks kills 3 more guards, Kills the rippers, Warden has a King, Graveguard and Black knights whacking his head, King does 4 wounds all save failed!
Now we all now what the Black axe does, "You don't" ok well if it inflicts wounds after combat you roll a dice and if the result is higher than the remaining wounds the model is slain and yep a roll of 4, Warden Killed!
At this point I concede it is only going one way.
Conclusion
It was a wipe out but an enjoyable one and I learn't alot from it, always take alternative models with you, I could have put in 10 Chamo skinks and taking out that Standard king first turn, the dice gods were with him this game and nothing can change that.
Don't over extend yourself, charge and kill one unit at a time, I could have wiped out a unit at a time easily Seraphon need Battalions, Saurus Guards are lethal and immortal only mortal wounds are a problem, I had them on a +2 save after the charge and everything bounced of them.
Against Death, rend is king, I'm playing him again next week and will take enough models to counter what ever he brings.
