AoS What to buy next after start collecting

After the start collecting box what should the next essential purchase for a 'standard' army?

just asking as i'm a noob!

Slann or Lord Kroak, (Slann has better synergy with this box.)
Astrolith bearer
Eternity warden
Engine of the gods
Skink Starseer
Skink Starpriest
Chameleon skinks or skinks
Ripperdactyls
Bastiladon

I was thinking in between the items on that list and bolster the warriors and knights

Is this a good idea?

Oh yeah! Right! So yeah pick up a bunch more saurus, I think they are better in bigger units, and get more knights. They work best in two units. Charge, run away, next unit charge.

and also (i know this should be in tactics but...) what is the general tactics for the overall Seraphon( if you get me)

Prioritze purchasing a Skinks box, and make use of their 'Wary Fighters' rule by upsetting combat turn order. The 24-pack is nice, as two units of 12 works pretty well.

They'll greatly increase the longevity of your army by tipping combats to your favor during the combat phase, and their shooting is decent enough for a disruption unit.

Most important is to remember that this is still a game of rock/paper/scissors... with the caveat that sometimes your opponent gets to use two hands against your one hand.

I am going to buy start collecting + seraphon book(which isn't mandority seeing I have the pdfs, but for the fromations) and another warriors to start off.

then a slann and some skinks

Sometimes it's just nice to have the book. Which reminds me I need to pick up the order book for those formations.

It gives info on Seraphon, Stormcast, Ironweld, Free Peoples, Fyre Slayers, and Aelfs, should have all the scrolls in it along with some new formations. Not completely sure though!

Grand alliance just contains 2 formations for Seraphon.
Don’t know about fluff...

I think get the Seraphon one for now, you can probably get the alliance one later if you decide to buy some stuff outside of the Seraphon line.

seeing as I can get both so cheaply I will buy the order one first and then get a friend who owes me 40 quid to buy the seraphon one and some paints
