"We do no demographic research, we have no focus groups, we do not ask the market what it wants" ~Tom Kirby~ (former GW CEO)

This is ridiculous. Do they not see the sense in feeding the market's demand? Trust it to GW to even stumble at basic capitalism.
They are certainly aware of the forums. This forum is evidence of the amount of people who invest themselves into beyond collecting models, and "community-driven" enterprises are all the rage atm.

Gah. All I want is good rules and pretty toys for cheap!

Give me my toys!!

Why do you think that stuff like the troglodong exists in the first place? xD

if the ASF thing is true i can see halberds deposing great weapons from the role of best option for saurus heroes. Without a nerf on cannons, shared profile or not, monsters won't be a great investment even if i have to say breaking steadfast with a single monster would be huge

I'd say that highly depends on what you want of that cowboy. Lone cowboys? Nah GW will still be superior, but cowboy + CoR as a heavy hitting strike team? Yes please! They'll do a tremendous amount of wounds.

Against white lions we'd be able to do 10,6 wounds with a simple unit such as 5 CoRs with champ a 1 Scar Vet BEFORE they get to strike. Yeah I wouldn't do it unless it would be to finish them off, but still it illustrates what a cheap unit can do to T3 elfs :p

I think GW used to be a lot better in years gone by. Even at the store level, it felt much more hobby orientated rather than their current "buy our collectable models" mentality. Their website is an excellent example of this shift, the old website was full of hobby related material (painting, terrain, tactics, etc) but now all you have is a web store. White Dwarf magazine follows this exact same trend.

GW enjoyed many years with a virtual monopoly, they never faced any serious competition. That is no longer the case and I feel that GW are partially to blame for that. Their "all knowing" stubbornness created an opportunity for other companies to step up and take a bite out of their market share. As to what keeps them afloat these days...
  • they still produce arguably the best miniatures
  • they have a long running history; an established name (though a bit tarnished these days)
  • they have well developed IP
It will be interesting to see how all this plays itself out over the next few years.

Such a beautiful model... why did they have to make the rules so poor? To this day I don't own one.

I disagree. Combined profiles mean mounts get access to ward saves. I see WoC dragons with 3+ wards rerolling 1's in the future. charmed shield will be even better as well

I dont actually think the release is far out, my local store clerk told me nothing is being stocked anymore, they are waiting for the new releases, new rules and the new sales that that will bring. 1 or 2 months? Should be around time we are getting solid rumours like this, as long as we survive as a race, i am fine with everything. Cannon nerf would be good though.

We WoC players wouldn't do a thing like that... :angelic::angelic::angelic: [insert maniacal laughter]

The big rumours have the release date slated for July. GW has been pretty tight lipped about releases, with reliable info typically "leaking" about a week or two prior to the release.

Yeah our local store have heavily decreased there WHF portion on the shelves. It's almost half size of what it was s month ago and the spot for characters/special characters is almost none existent. There are only handful of VC characters left. Something is definitely going on.

My personal guess (not supported by any facts whatsoever) that the Trogladon was initially a character mount for a lord-level skink oracle, but in a test game it completely dominated with lucky rolls and was heavily nerfed right before the book was sent to the printers.

Which to me is not indicative of small changes ahead. I think 9th edition will bring with it big changes. I feel rule-wise it will be a tweak of 8th edition, but everything else is going to see very big changes. This is just my opinion though, I'm not privy to any inside info unfortunately.

That can't be right, you're assuming that GW actually played a test game! ;)

The rumors in the OP seem viable. My problem is the assessment seems to good be true. Whereas the old rumors seemed to be bad to be true.
