HEY GUYS! I have my first tourny coming up in feb. i have a few lists in mind i was wanting to run them by some experienced players and see what you guys thought. these are all 1k btw. first list is Firelance Starhost 1x ssv on carnosaur 3x10 saurus cavalry 10 skinks 1x bastiladon next Eternal starhost 1x saurus eternity warden 3x10 saurus gaurd 3x salamanders next shadow strike 1x skink starpriest 40 skinks 3 units of ripperdactyl riders 5x chameleon skinks lastly a random list lord kroak 1x saurus astrolith bearer 2x20 skinks 3x razordons 1 unit of skink handlers i think i like the shadow strike list the most cause it can play like an assassination list if need be
I love shadowstrike myself, but how are you splitting the 40 skinks? You need 2 battle line, so either 30/10 or 20/20. Chameleons in the host are pointless too, as they don’t need the extra movement, so I’d take them as their own unit. I’ve tried a similar Firelance too, and 3x10 cavalry feels like too many. The sweet spot in my own experience is 10/5/5, but your own games may vary. I just found that terrain got in the way too much! Although I don’t own the models, I head many have success with the Eternal host, but lose friends in taking it!
In the shadowstrike list thats 1 unit of 40 skinks. Can I not take chameleons as a battleline? I just liked the chameleons cause I could put them where ever to help assassinate on turn 1. Thanks for the input on the firelance list too, i'll try those numbers.is the eternal host too cheesy? I'm still building my mini's so I havent even gotten a pratice game in yet but I'm excited to practice these lists and see how I like them!!! thanks for the input keep it coming please!
Battle line for Seraphon allegiance is Saurus Warriors, Guards, Cavalry or Skinks. Chameleons are other sadly! 30/10 may be the best way to split them imo
Eternal is not cheesy. Top tier armies just destroy it. Against all others it is good but by no means unbeatable. So if you have at least 15 Guards and the Warden go try it!
Do top armies destroy it because of mortal wounds? Saurus Guards have so few HP if you get past the saves. If he removed the 3 salamanders for 20 skinks would that help the wound count, or would losing the damage be too much? How about if he cut down to 10/10/5 Guards to squeeze in a bastilodon for the mortal wound ignore ability? New player here, just trying to find out how all the pieces fit together.
Mortal Wounds are exactly the problem. If it were just spells you could have a bit of luck and/or dispel them but some armies have so many - reliable - sources for mortal wounds that Guards die as quickly as Skinks do. The only protection against that is masses of models so you don't care if you lose some. Or play units that hit so hard you can kill the guys who can cause mortal wounds. Of which we don't have that many except Kroak.
