I bought my Slann Starmaster and one of my stegadons painted but they are metal so I may end up stripping the paint and having a go myself - has anyone tried paint stripping before?

Yep, form metal it is extremely easy (not so much from plastic). Just mix warm water with some dishwashing liquid, place the model inside for some time and then scrap the paint on with some wire brush. If not, you can also use deoxygenated alcohol (the one for disinfecting wounds) and it will work a lot better (you would just need an old toothbrush).
    Hope it helps :)

Thanks I will probably try that the painting of the models is good but I will likely want to theme my paint scheme so that they all look good together.

Oh, and may I add that if you use deoxygenated alcohol on plastic models use it only for 1-2 hours maximum. I left my models overnight and some detail (the whole face) got melted away... I think metal will be able to hold it, but I would´t leave it more than 2 hours again just in case. ;)

It'll either be lava/volcanic themed and or some general jungle theme there are some nice bases I want from ebay that are pre set as like jungle and lava and then you just pain those too so ill probably buy them eventually

Green stuff is pretty easy to use I find, you will nearly always grab more than you need though!

Thanks bowser could you help me with the process of using it in laymens terms - how do you get it to become the part of the model you want or sculpt you want? do you wet it and dry it or something?

You will definitely want it to be wet, or at least your hands and tools while working with it. You can just glue press it on while wet/soft, but makebsure yu avcount for gravity to ensure things don't droop. Or mold it and when it hardens then glue it to the model like any other bit.

Sounds good thanks :) I'm contemplating making a platform urhm palanquin thing for a custom Slann - I was gonna do lord mazdamundi but i'm considering my own character at the moment and i'll go from there - all my other frogs ahem Slanns look similar as I have afew of the same model now - so i'll be wanting to customise them to make them diffrent
