Hey everyone! So the Skirmish rules come out tomorrow, the book suggests that you start with 25 renown which gets you an Oldblood (24 renown) and 1 Skink (1 renown) or a Skink Starpriest (16 renown) which leaves you with 9 renown. I was thinking 3 warriors (2 each) and 3 Skinks. Just wondering peoples thoughts on the new format/ list ideas!
I was eager to go to my local store, get the Skirmish book and try to come up with an army list... But no copy has been delivered to the shop because of some issue caused by the large amount of preorders for 40K I'll have to wait till Thursday to have it... Does anyone already got a copy? How you find it?
Skirmish actually looks really good, especially as the book is only £6 in Britain... Does anyone else here recognise it to be like Mordheim? You could just increase the renown. Just because the book suggests you have 25 renown, you don't have to have it as 25. Try perhaps 40 renown and have an oldblood along with a smattering of saurus and skinks
I have heard a little bird sing about the return of Mordheim, it is supposed to return late 2017 or early 2018. It will of course not be called Mordheim, but it will basically be the same game.
I heard people compare this to Mordheim. I was thinking the same thing about the extra points. We will see how it goes. I think we are doing battles today at my local store. I'll post a picture of the points when I get my book! And let you guys know what we did and how it went!
Ok so I didn't get to play a match because we were just playing Path of Glory however here are the points!
So, apart from behemoths and slanns, these units are missing: - kroxigors - chameleon skinks - razordons/salamanders and handlers - saurus veteran on cold one - sunblood - eternity warden - skink priest I can understand why lots of them are not included, but I admit it would've been nice to be able to field a Krox But I'm very happy that terradons and rippers are included! My initial 25 renown list could be StarPriest (16) Saurus Knight (4) Saurus Warrior (2) Skink (1) and then two more Skinks or another Warrior So 5-6 initial models and lots of variety. If I'll decide to houserule and begin the campaign with 30 renown (as someone on TGA Community suggests) I would try this: StarPriest (16) Terradon (8) 2 Saurus Warriors (2x2) 2 Skinks (1x2) cause it sounds funny!
From what I understand all units in Skirmish are non Finecast :/. So I think thays why we didn't get any of those. I do think we have a decent advantage in the game though. Bravery 10 is huge bc battle shock is global. We also have good units at low points. Ironjawz for example have the Warchanter at 16 and 'ard boyz are 4 points each at bravery 6! 1 Saurus warrior with a standard drops them down to 5! Bring in a knight with a banner as well and they are down to 4! And If you kill their general they go to 5 bravery base. So bravery 3 for their whole squad! Acrane bolts from our Starpriest to snipe while we march in(not to mention hopefully some good rolls on a serpent staffed unit) to go for the throat! I like it!
I don't know the rules well enough but going to have a few games soon, I was thinking of fielding a star priest and nine skinks, just because skinks are great for objectives and they seem a lot cheaper than other models in our army, would be nice to field a ripper later in the game. Bit disappointed in the number of models we have available to us, especially compared to stormcast!
It's the damn Finecast! Lol. I was ready to break out some Ogre fun for this too but non of their heros are plastic! You could be insanely cheeky and play stormcast, bring the sniper angel kill their hero turn 1 then battleshock them off the board. Lol
If you want a better selection of models to pick from you could always try playing the 3rd party supplement Hinterlands. It allows for more choice in models as well as has an RPG style level up system. Definitely worth giving a read as the rules are totally free and super fun
I think this'll be FAQ'd out, the game already suggests that you limit ranged attacks to 12" as a house rule, wouldn't be surprised if they make that official.
I hope so. Would our Stardrake Icons +1s to the battleshock roll stack? The wording is "if a battleshock test is taken within 5" of any stardrake icons, you may add 1 to the result. So if you had 3 guys with icons would it be +3 or just +1?
You cannot have a warband composed by OB + 1 skink. Minimum is 3 models. Anyway, IMO any warband should have a fast model (be it a runner with good movement or even a flyer)
@Killer Angel thats true!, and thank you for catching that hiccup on the rules! We are starting at 30 pts at my local store. I was thinking Starpriest 16pts Terradon rider 8pts Saurus warriorsx2(drum and banner) 4pts and Skinksx2 2pts.
