It's very important to win this Tuesday as we have a tryhard rampaging (I mean I'm a kind of a tryhard too but they like me anyway) through the other nice members of our local community! This guy brings 6 dracoliths, a hammer of sigmar, and 25 archers (making them 5 DEADLY shockwavers). I just got a Slann and a Kroak and a balewind in the mail today, and I'm thinking I could try to throw them on top of a thunderquake (I don't have an astrolith bearer or an eternity warden). Here's my proposed list. Any suggestions on an improvement including traits and relics? I don't HAVE to use lord kroak but I would image he will be good against Stormcast. Slann Starmaster 260 Lord Kroak 450 Thunderquake 170 Troglodon 180 Bastilidon 280 Stegadon 240 4 Razordon 160 skink handler 40 40 skinks 200 5 knights 100 5 knights 100 5 guard 100 5 chameleon skinks balewind vortex 100 I haven't even built the slann and kroak yet so I haven't got a chance to play around with them. The slann seems useful in thunderquake and kroak seems strong enough to always be worth it provided he can live. Any tips?
If you are going with Kroak i would take a starpriest and priest with him for the -1 to hit and reroll saves. Els against that much shooting he can be killed fast if they get the range on him. But kroak is a beast against stormcast if he gets all his spells off
Yes! Nice advice! What would you lose? With vast intellect he can give himself curse of fates and summon starlight so I could probably just use the Slann rather than the Starpriest though, right? Especially since light of the heavens seems like crap vs stormcast
Hmm the Slann improves the Thunderquake with the D3 heals as well as providing the constellation, curse of fates, and summon starlight (I guess kroak could perform two of those himself) with the bonus of casting through the troglodon. I’m definitely open to it, but what would be a better use of that 260 points?
Kroak is also a Slann so if you keep him near the Thunderquake you have the d3 heal anyway (assuming you don't want to use him as a Kroak bomb). Alternatives are plenty. A Starpriest and some Skinks could work for example.
Thanks for the advice. All my skinks are already in the list (besides 8 models) but I have the following left over out of the list: old blood on carnosaur scar vet on carnosaur, Scarvet on cold one up to 40 warriors (if I find a another 100 to cut), up to 10 more Saurus Guard, up to 10 more knights, Sunblood on foot the Starpriest, a skink regular priest, 3 ripperdactyl riders Wow that’s actually a lot of options! Only thing I really don’t have is terradons, engine of the gods, eternity warden and astrolith bearer (and of course dread saurian). Guess I know what to get next! I’m leaning warrior block of 40 and remove chameleon skinks but I’m not sure if the warrior block or something else will help more
Also keep in mind that Kroak can't have command traits / artefacts as he's a named character, so if you lose the Slann you're also losing Curse of Fates!
Think he will bring Stardrake after all. What do you think, then, about THIS list instead? I removed the starhost for this. Lord Kroak 450 Skink Preist (trappings) 80 Skink starpriest 80 Oldblood on Carnosaur 280 40 skinks 200 40 warriors 360 4 razordon 160 5 Saurus Knight 100 5 Saurus Knight 100 10 skinks 60 Bastilidon (beam) 280 Stegadon (bow) 240 Balewind Vortex 100 OR I can leave in the starhost and take out the slann and do something like this: Lord Kroak 450 Skink Priest 80 Skink Starpriest 80 Thunderquake 170: Troglodon 180 Bastilidon 280 Stegadon 240 3 razordon 120 skink handler 40 40 skinks 200 40 Warrior 360 5 Knights 100 5 Knights 100 Balewind Vortex 100
I am not an expert for such big games but in general I think that the big games are where bataillons really begin to shine, so I tend to say using them makes sense.
He can be the general, but he cannot take a trait. And no, a non-general cannot take a trait instead.
