Hi everyone, Recently I've had the opportunity to start an army and was a bit confused when I went into my local games workshop store to see no warhammer fantasty availabile, when I was young this was the game that I really wanted to play and only now have the means to actually start and of course age of sigmar has taken over (my understanding, please feel free to educate) but I'm still really eager to start. Lizardmen are just flat out awesome and I've always wanted to collect them and now in age of sigmar them seem to have even cooler looking models. I currently have the starter set, a stegadon that is currently unassembled and a unit of terradons with the potential of some fairly massive expansion. I would love some advice on what to get next, also it would be very helpful if that advice was tailered to the fact that my main opponent will be fielding a nagash vampire counts army as he and I started collecting at the same time our armies are currently of similar size and we're both attempting a fairly competitive build but as always with miniature games the main point is fun. Finally I'm super happy that there is a site like this where people can exchange ideas and help each other with their passion, don't know if any other faction or race has anything like this but I'm glad theres one for me. Really would appreciate some help, thanks and I hope to contribute more in the future.
Welcome aboard! Starter set: Build the Oldblood on Carno, use the skink oracle as a starpriest. Set aside one of your Knights and make him special, make him stand out as a scar-vet on cold one. Next, while I prefer ripperdactyl over terradon they will work well. Get yourself 10 chameleon skinks. Get a skink starseer as well. 2× bastiladon And honestly a box of guard and another starter. Then sunblood and eternity warden. So far set for a shadowstrike starhost and a bloodclaw starhost. Engine of the gods and slann, and 3 salamanders. That should set you up for a Thunderquake starhost. Depending on how big your games will get you should be able to mix and match those to your need and liking. The shadowstrike will be good to weaken Nagash, if you play it at the right time, while your knights charge in for the kill.
Welcome to the forum! You are correct. Unfortunately Games Workshop discontinued Warhammer Fantasy Battles about a year and a half ago. Age of Sigmar is the main "fantasy" game they are toting these days. However there are other games available that are similar to classic Warhammer Fantasy: Kings of War (KoW) http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/kings-of-war.html [by Mantic] The 9th Age (T9A) https://www.the-ninth-age.com/ [Fan made] Lizardmen definitely have some the finest models that GW has produced (IMHO). They have not yet received any model support under Age of Sigmar, everything in their line is from 8th Edition Warhammer or prior. I don't play AoS myself, but there are many on here that do. I'm sure you'll find lots of great support and ideas on this site.
Thanks so much Bowser and NIGHTBRINGER I hope to be posting my progress as this army actually expands
Belated welcome to the forums! Good news, Age of Sigmar has been modified to make it playable now AND the prices for army packs are more reasonable than they've been in years.
