We Honour the Old One Aartzifartzi with sacrifices of fresh art. He / she / it was pleased with these offerings. The theme/s for the competition were "Conjunction / Choice" Despite allowing two extra months to allow enough votes to break the deadlock, @Essmir had a technical victory on the basis of 10 poorly cast votes and that I had something stuck in my eye for the entire month of August. And beginner's luck. All glorious competition entrants (and Essmir) have been immortalised in the Temple of Aartzifartzi. The astonishing WIP Thread is also available for the unwary. Untitled Artist: @Essmir Medium: pencil, paper, llama spittle and the musk of fear Tails You Lose Artist: @spawning of Bob Medium: Autodesk Sketchbook, iPad, background photo: Warner Bros Studio Ranch from Henry's Western Round-Up War In The Branches Artist: @Bowser Medium: Paper and do you ever wonder why all of the highlighters at work never have any ink?
We of the Priests of Aartifartzi like to refer to ourselves in third person AND plural, and we also have a relaxed attitude to late entries. If anyone has more to offer after the entry deadline that is great - this post is reserved as a gallery of other related (and not very related) art. The only thing is that no voting will occur for late contributions. We of the Priesthood will kick off: Title: Just Before the Conjunction of Sun, Moon and Morrslieb CC Medium: Lack of Inspiration and Time
All three entries were inspired by original fiction works on this very website, and if you haven't read them yet, you really should. @Essmir has captured a thunderbolt of damp smelly rage from Food for Thought and @Bowser has depicted the well muscled torso of Tlax the Unworthy from The Great Game in the same short story competition. Evidently, Tlax's recovery from the wound which severed his legs was not as complete as we had been led to believe. The authors are as yet anonymous. My own entry is inspired by the not-dying moments of the first section of Among the Dust which was told by @Y'ttar Scaletail, who knows more about Skaven than seems entirely healthy. Or at least not entirely healthy for a visitor to Lustria.
This was an incredibly tough choice, but Eli-Nesz was done so shockingly good here I had to vote that way. Sorry @Essmir Your Saurus and Llamas destroying the Skaven is amazing! If only I had 2 votes!
The rain depicted in that picture is amazing! @Essmir has done an incredible job. The style is brilliant and dynamic.
Yes, of all the stories in the comp, that one had some powerful visual imagery and mood, and Essmir pulled it all out beautifully. I wish I was brave enough to be impressionistic like Essmir and @little-myth's terradon! I like yours a lot, too, Bowser, and particularly that it was made with looted highlighters. How many other armies have a core color scheme so suited to goofing off at work? Looking at the delicacy of the brush strokes, I assume it was made at a large scale. How ever did you not get busted?
Working weekends you largely get left alone, so was much easier to get away with colouring! But yeah, Lizardmen have the perfect colour schemes for pilfered highlighters
In the distant past, there was a lull at work in which I and several colleagues had time to do a large jigsaw puzzle. Two other colleagues (jealous ones, presumably) independently decided to steal one piece each, so there were gaps at the finish. Unperturbed, I spent another day carving new pieces and then colour matching using nothing but highlighters, white board pens and my wits. The puzzle was saved (brown lion in long brown grass. Try getting light brown out of a highlighter set.) One of the culprits resigned soon afterwards, and the other didn't confess until years later. I'm going to confront her about it again tomorrow.
I can definitely taste the musk of fear! All are excellent pieces, but Essmir's one won my vote. It really captures in a powerful way the key moment of "Food..." Great job!
I didn't understand before this moment how you could hold an 8 year grudge. Now I know. The smug grows thick around your office.
You would fit rightfully in on bugmans brewery. Grudges is all for them. They do still grumble about slotta bases over there.
