Very nice work I was thinking of getting into 40k and I do like how this race is very Alien like...if only they had a Predator race...

Yeah, all those Tyranids look really good. When you get a good sized warm like that out on the table it looks really nifty. Tyranids are one of those 40k armies that I've always wanted to at least collect a little bit and pain em up - they look super fun to paint - them and Orks. I just never can make myself pull the trigger on any of them. 40k just hasn't ever grabbed me by the throat like WHFB did.

I'm enjoying 40k more than fantasy to be truthful. It's far less complicated and there's less rules qualms, I love scifi as well.
Be wary that if you start tyranids then you have many, many, many models to paint.
If you like painting single models then tyranids isn't for you hahaha

That is a mighty fine Nid army!!! :):):) They look quite formidable, especially in that picture displaying the whole force. What colours did you use on the caraspaces/shell?

    My recipe
    1. Baneblade Brown - Base coat
    2. Ushabti Bone - lines toward edges
    3. Agrax Earthshade - fairly liberal application
    4. Ushabti Bone - smaller highlight lines toward edges

Cool looking swarm you got there. How about something like Hive fleet Apoptosis as in programmed cell death, or hive fleet Apophis like the Egyptian God / Goa'uld from Stargate?

Wonderful tyrannids! I still have my small warband of tyrannids lying around since the Battle for Maccrage came out that I never painted... maybe someday!

    As for names: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Tyranid_Hive_Fleet_Creation_Tables

Well that one was mostly just a quick lore creation table, but you can always go with some legendary creature name. When in doubt, Wikipedia! They have a list of legendary creatures by letter, just pick your favorite letter and the most scary-sounding name on the list!

I'm thinking it should be a legendary sea creature, but the problem is that most of the legendary creature names have already been taken!
