This is going to be my log for my lizardman army, hopefully before the beginning of August I will have these guys fully modded and painted for the contest. Fingers crossed.
I really like the different feel those Saurus have. I am really looking forward to seeing the completed unit and also, what comes next!
After that I have a few Stegadons to build and a bunch of salamanders, I really hope I'm able to finish the unit for this, I have a bunch of gs work to do on them as well I'm working two jobs with a 2 month old baby. So I fit it in when I can but so far not moving very fast.
Wow! Are those based on savage orcs models? That is awesome, I love it! Can't wait to see them painted. Do you mind if I steal this idea for my own army?
This is them painted, and for sure you can steal the idea. If I didn't want others to do it I would not have posted them
Those look real good! Very brutal and menacing. I like the dots on their heads and skin. What do you use them as? Saurus warriors, orcs? Dig the plants on the bases as well. Definitely gone pick a box of these in the weekend, I'm thinking of converting them to temple guards. Thanks again for this great idea and conversions
looks amazing! i am not 100% thrilled with the proportions of the models, and i prefer my sauruses without crests, but have still done an amazing job with teh converting. i cant see... do they have tails? anyway, whats more important is the great paint job, and the awesome colors. care to share the recepie? you have some really nice contrasts going on in there
Craken, if you have WIP shots of these, you should send them in to GW. I cannot imagine that they would not want to show these conversions in an issue of White Dwarf or on the website. It is such an interesting idea and works so well. Even if you only have the before and after paint picture. They turned out so well.
Wow lots of posts all of a sudden Thanks for all the comments folks. I use them as saurus warriors. Ya I think I'm going to end up making these guys into temple guard as well (not this particular batch) everything else looks too puny now. No problem good luck on the conversions. They do have tails, going to have to do a side shot to show that, not sure why the tails don't show up otherwise. The proportions are a bit wonky, but I like them, sorta make it more crocodile like with the stubby legs. For the paint, fist off thanks for the kind words. They are mostly reaper paints. All the reds are gw. Here's the run down. Btw all colors are mixed with skull white for shading. Skin - Starts with reaper Pine Green, then skull white is added slowly building up to the final color in layers then Pine Green is added again for the spots and stripes on the back (not shown here) Bellies - Start with a mix of Reaper tanned leather and a tiny tiny bit of pine green, then gw skull white is added building up layers again. Reds- All the reds where done the same Gw Scab Red undercoat, highlighted with Gw Blood Red. Leather and Wood - Combinations and layers of Reaper Muddy Clay and Tanned Leather, sometime skull white added in. Bone - Tanned Leather under coat, with layers of skull white till a highlight coat of skull white. Thanks, I think he's cool too. Thanks, actually I've already sent these guys off to them with no response *shrugs* Anyways guys next time I do a batch of these guys I will post the WIP, through all the stages. So stay tuned I guess
they might be even cooler with TG heads, since those are quite a bit bigger than normal saurus heads. might actually be super imba cool. and you get 24 heads in one TG box.... hmmm
as an orc player i off course prefer them with orc heads......but they are dem good !!! If you dont mind i will post them on da-warpath (with proper reference off course).
Cheaper if you buy the heads from bit sites like hoard of bits Ya sure just be sure to send me the link please
