In the back of the Warhammer Lustria book is a model of a Arcanodon carrying a Engine of the Gods. Does anyone know anything about it. I suspect it was a one off model for this book but I could be wrong. Any thoughts would be of interest. Thanks in advance.
I saw the picture. Canceled plans / prototype that never left the studio thanks to End TImes and the Demise of Warhammer as we knew it. That is my guess. ~~~ wanders off to google this ~~~ Did you try Forgeworld? Also, Cf: http://www.lustria-online.com/search/531889/?q=arcanodon&o=date
"Arcanadons Mighty beasts that dwell in the jungle, rarely seen by anyone. These creatures were used in the battle against chaos before the coming of Tehenhuian and the Stegadons. The Arcanodon was introduced in the "Lustria" campaign setting book and they once bore the powerful artifact called the Engines of the Gods. The Arcanadon resembles a sauropod, but have thick scales and much more aggressive." That text ^ was from this ==> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizardmen_(Warhammer)
When the Lustria book was published, I was a huge fan of the Arcanodon and his flaming rocklobber of a Weapon of the Old Ones (not a big fan of the armylist, but it was fun). The beautiful model shown in the book (I do not know of any links to the Lustria Book, I have my own copy), was a single model produced just for the book. It is a heavilily modified model that uses pieces from the carnosaur, stegodon, dragon, greenstuff and various other bits and custom items (a parts list was never released). It was never made for production (nor was any other version), however a different Arcanodon version (that didn't look nearly as nice) was detailed in White Dwarf with step-by-step conversion instructions.
Yea it was a one-of conversion, although it did have rules in the Lustrian campaign book. I believe it had a carnasaur head and a body from some random dinosaur, and the howda was made of saurus gliphs and random plastic bits.
For a sculpting contest (maybe on the anniversary [?] of the campaign book) we ought to sponsor a build-your-own Arcanodon activity.
Anybody know when the anniversary of the release of that book was? if the date below is correct? ~~~ edit ~~~ Amaxon.com sez: it was published Jan 1, 2004. Twelve years, four months ago... ...would July 1st mark the 150th Moon (month) since it was released?
Yes I do. WD305. It has 2 methods shown with parts lists. Neither look that great (and the 1st one has been completely replaced by the new stegodon model). I really wish that article would have given the instructions for the version seen in the Lustria book instead. Clarification: US WD305. (in the UK it was WD306)
This conversation has been most enlightening and inspiring - I am constantly learning from the friendly folk that dwell in the netherpages of the inter-connected-web - may you continue to shine your wisdom down upon me so that I might aspire to do great things

Older post but might as well give corrections since didn't see it. The Engine of the Gods/Arcanadon in the Lustria book was made with: Carnosaur & Forgeworld Tau knarloc rider body/legs. It's mentioned in the white dwarf above, i believe, when they show how to make a crappier looking arcanadon using stegadon parts mentioned here with pic: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/arcanadon-model.16241/
Yes this is what I remember, part Knarloc part carnosaur with some custom work for the thing on its back.
Hey, this is an old thread but here is a 3D model i just finished for the Arcanadon! https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/arcanosaur
