    Hello,

I think a small introduction to my idea for an army should be made beforehand. I always played a skink army for WFB and my idea is to maintain that in KoW, only exception is the heros of course.

I'm trying to build a 1250 list to fight against Basilea in the Pillage Scenario. I've come up with three lists, whick one do you think is better?

    LIST 1:

    - Ghekkotah Skylord
    - Herald with Diadem of Dragon-Kind
    - Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors
    - 1 Horde of Tyrants
    - 1 Horde of Fire Elementals
    - 1 Regiment of Ancients
    - 3 Lekelidons

    LIST 2:

    - Ghekkotah Skylord
    - Herald with Diadem of Dragon-Kind
    - Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors with Brew of Sharpness
    - 2 Hordes of Tyrants one with Helm of Confidence
    - 2 Lekelidons
    - 1 Fire Drake

    LIST 3:

    - Ghekkotah Skylord
    - Herald with Diadem of Dragon-Kind
    - Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors
    - 2 Horde of Tyrants one with Blade of Slashing
    - 1 Ankylodon Battle Platform
    - 2 Lekelidons

    LIST 4:
    - Ghekkotah Skylord
    - Herald with Diadem of Dragon-Kind
    - Mage Priest
    - Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors
    - 2 Horde of Tyrants one with Blade of slashing
    - 1 Greater Fire Elemental
    - 2 Lekelidons

    Thanks in advance!

From my meager experience with KoW lists, I'd say List 3 is the best. It seems well rounded and flexible enough for all scenarios that could be played and the Ankylodon Battle Platform (from what I can tell) seems like a good anvil/flank charger and heals damage overtime (healing damage is great in this game).

I'm surprised that there are no Ghekkotah hunters in the lists, how come? Also, am I to assume that the Lekilodons are like Salamanders but without handlers?

Thanks for the feedback, I don't use hunters because simply put, there no points left for them. I need The three hordes to unlock both heroes and the 3 monsters, and thats it. Not a single point to spare.

To represent the Lekelidons I use Razordons, but you could use Salamanders perfectly. Jus remeber they are monsters are if you are going to participate in a tournament they should be in 50x50 bases. You can buy a small 50x50 movement tray and just put it in it.

Good to know. I won't alter the bases on my models as of yet simply because i wish to use the models for multiple game systems but that's good to know for official tournament play.

Good news, I managed to persuade a friend of mine to play a couple of games so I can playtest a couple of army lists.

Will keep you informed and maybe write a battle report, we will see.

Just finished my two games. I used a perfected version of list 3 and list 4. I took pictures of the last game using list 4, will write a battle report this weekend.

Meanwhile my first game using list 3 just was a massacre. By the end of turn 5 only one of his units was alive and wavered.

This is the list I used:

    - 1 Mage-Priest with surge and inspiring talisman.
    - 1 Ghekkotah Skylord
    - 2 Hordes of Fire Elementals
    - 1 Horde of Ghekkotah Warriors
    - 1 Greater Fire Elemental
    - 1 Ankylodon Battle Platform

He was playing Twilight Kin, his list was more or less like this:

    - 1 Horde of Abyssal Riders
    - 1 Horde of Spearmen
    - 1 Regiment of Crossbows
    - 1 Regiment of Buccaneers
    - 1 Troop of Gargoyles
    - 1 Lord on Dragon

My thoughts of my units are as follows:

    - Fire Elementals: I wasn't hoping much from them, as I prefer my Tyrants. But with surge they just performed really well flank charging and routing the dragon Lord when he flew over my units. Great option when there is a lot of difficult terrain but to get full advantage of them you need Surge.

    - Greater Fire Elemental: I fell in love with this thing, not as hard hitting as the hordes but his high nerve and his crushing strength 4 make him a real killer, specially against high defence units. You will wound everything on a +2, amazing punch.

    - Ankylodon: I like him in paper, but he never managed to get into combat, he was outmanoeuvered every time. My mistake was to deploy him on a flank with hopes of controlling it, and it did in the end with his shooting but it took him 4 turns to kill a single regiment. That being said it's almost immortal if you take care of it. Just don't place it in a place where he can be charged by units with high Crushing Strength.

    Thanks for reading!

Glad to hear you got your game in. I would seriously consider putting your Ankylodon in the centre of your army and have your tyrant hordes and gekkotah hordes flank it. that way if one of those units gets into combat, the Ankylodon might be able to flank charge the opposing unit.

Yes that was my mistake, I still have to perfect my tactics with him and with my Skylord but the army is shaping to be very reliable.
